Cécile Kaiflyn

Bio

Cécile Kaiflyn is a Swiss visual artist, born in Geneva in 1988. Essentially inspired by the current of “lyric abstraction” and by the philosophy of Chinese art, she shares the desire of both movements to capture the creative impulse of the gesture and to return to the process of reflection of creation.

Her movement-based artistic approach is driven by a search for resonance between volumes and textures, materials and colors, shadows and light, painted surfaces and spaces spared from gesture. She doesn’t aim to figuratively depict the reality that surrounds her, but instead to translate the essence of the kinetics forces imbued in that reality onto canvas.

Meaning of the artwork

Cecile’s parcel symbolises the encounter of two beings represented by two forms composed of lines. These entities lead their lives without suspecting the existence of the other, then comes the first encounter symbolised by the blue square. Their emotions are alive, everything is agitated in their minds. They come out intertwined. Then an altercation occurs and they take a different path. They separate for a while to better find each other and end up together as one.
